Historic hotel on the National Register of Historic Places in downtown Chattanooga

Rooms & Suites

The Read House Hotel offers rooms in two distinct sections: the Historic Tower and the Manor House. The Historic Tower rooms feature newly renovated bathrooms with large showers and Berkemans bath products. The Manor House rooms provide spacious layouts with two queen beds or a king bed, plus a mini fridge and coffee maker.

Dining

On-site dining includes Bridgeman's Chophouse, a steakhouse serving dinner in a 1920s-inspired setting. The hotel bar offers cocktails and a billiards room, with bartenders like Alan known for signature drinks such as the Peanut Butter Alan. A Starbucks with a direct entrance from the lobby provides coffee and breakfast options.

Amenities & Recreation

The hotel has a heated indoor pool open year-round, with towels provided and sun loungers available. A fitness center is accessible to all guests, and a billiards room offers leisure activities. For relaxation, there is a spa and wellness center, though specific treatments are not detailed.

History & Tours

The Read House Hotel is the longest continuously operating hotel in the Southeast, with nearly 200 years of history including Civil War ties. The hotel offers historical ghost tours, with a focus on Room 311, which has a backstory linked to John Wilkes Booth's brother. Guests can also book a 'Gatsby Package' that includes a larger room, champagne, a $250 gift card, and a copy of The Great Gatsby.

Location & Nearby Attractions

The hotel is less than 1 km from the Tennessee Aquarium and a 5-minute drive from the University of Tennessee. Lookout Mountain and Ruby Falls are within 5 km, and the Chattanooga Riverwalk and Coolidge Park are walkable. Valet parking is available for $28 per night, with a public parking garage across the street for $20 per 24 hours.

excellent furniture valet service spacious room small toilet poor view
I enjoyed the beautiful victrola in the lobby. The furniture was quite excellent! The valets were great with their amazing service! I loved how spacious and beautiful the room was.
The toilet seemed very small. I could see the pipes under the sink, and that was not comfortable. The window only showed the top of the building!
